This additional space usually makes the opening more forgiving because new tiles do not immediately restrict your movement. You can develop several merging chains at once and create higher numbers without filling the board too quickly.

That freedom can be deceptive. A larger board allows more low-value tiles to accumulate, especially when you constantly change directions. Avoid moving in all four directions without a reason. If your largest tile is secured in the bottom-left corner, frequent upward movement may pull it away from its position and place a small tile underneath it. Recovering from that situation can require several risky moves.

Use the Extra Space Carefully

The 6×6 grid gives you useful breathing room, but empty cells should be treated as a resource. Do not fill them with isolated numbers that cannot merge soon. Try to clear smaller combinations regularly so that the center of the board remains flexible.

Before making a move, look for its secondary effects. One merge may open a lane, align another pair, or prepare a chain reaction. On the other hand, it may introduce a new tile into a troublesome location. Thinking one or two moves ahead often provides more value than choosing the direction that creates the most immediate matches.

When the grid becomes messy, focus on restoring order instead of chasing a large tile. Combine nearby low numbers, reopen blocked rows, and rebuild the path toward your chosen corner.
