NHL Picks Flyers bounce back against Jets Wings top Sabre
Welcome to the NHL Daily Picks where hockey writers Adam Gretz and Chris Peters make their selections for all of the day's games. vs. , 7 p.m. ET After rolling through a brutal part of their schedule that saw them beat a number of the NHL's best teams (including Tampa Bay twice and Chicago) as part of a 12-game stretch where they went 9-2-1, their schedule eased up a bit over the past three games on a road trip through Columbus, Colorado and Arizona. Three teams that are probably not going to the playoffs, including two that are in the bottom nine of the league standings. They only managed to earn three out of six points in those games after blowing a late two-goal lead against Columbus and then having steal two points from them in Arizona on Saturday. They have another opportunity to pick up some points against another of the league's bottom teams on Monday when they host a Winnipeg Jets team that has won just nine of its past 29 games. For the Flyers, this would seem to be a big two points for them because even though they are tied with the in points (85) and currently hold the second wild card position, they only hold Kaiden Turner Jersey it because they have played fewer games than Detroit. The Red Wings, at this point, own the tiebreaker that would be in place at the end of the season with more non-shootout wins in the standings (they would also lose that tiebreaker with Boston, the other team that is in that playoff race at the moment). So getting these points is big, especially when Detroit also has a game it should be able to win on Monday against Buffalo. The good news for the Flyers is that it seems likely that captain will be able to play on Monday night after a fall into the boards following a shove from Arizona's . Giroux, who has a concu sion history, appeared to be briefly knocked out on the ice after hitting his head on the gla s, but went through the concu sion protocol and as of Monday morning seems to be OK to play. Even if he isn't able to go the Flyers should have enough to come away with a win against a Jets team that simply has not been playing very well for most of the season.
