Step-by-Step Production of Ferrite Disc Shape Magnets
Ferrite disc shape magnets are widely used in electronic devices, motors, sensors, and various industrial applications due to their stability, durability, and cost-effectiveness. The production of these magnets involves a series of precise steps to ensure uniformity, magnetic performance, and dimensional accuracy.
The production process begins with the selection of high-quality raw materials, typically iron oxide and barium or strontium carbonate. These powders are carefully measured and blended to achieve the desired magnetic properties. The mixture is then ground into a fine powder to ensure uniform particle size, which is crucial for achieving consistent magnetic performance in the finished magnet.
Next, the powder is subjected to pressing, either in a dry or wet process, to form disc-shaped green compacts. During this step, the powder is aligned under a magnetic field to optimize the orientation of magnetic domains, which enhances the magnet’s strength and efficiency. The compacts are then sintered at high temperatures in a controlled atmosphere. Sintering solidifies the material, increases density, and improves mechanical and magnetic properties.
After sintering, the discs undergo precise machining and grinding to achieve the required dimensions, flatness, and surface finish. This step ensures that the magnets fit accurately in their intended applications, such as motors or sensors. If necessary, the magnets are also magnetized by exposing them to a strong magnetic field, which aligns their magnetic domains and imparts the desired polarity.
Finally, the magnets are inspected for quality, including checks for dimensional accuracy, magnetic strength, and surface integrity. Any defects are corrected or discarded, and the magnets are packaged for distribution.
